Twin fourteen-year old brothers Josh and JB are basketball stars, coached by their dad, "Da Man", a former pro player. The brothers are competitive but loving. Things begin to change when JB gets a girlfriend, their parents argue more, and their dad ignores his health. Josh finds himself shut out and alone for the first time.
This book is written in verse. the poems are a mix of styles, relating to their topics, from the action of a basketball game to the quite loneliness of the left-out brother. Winner of the Newbery medal and the Coretta Scott King Honor award.
